Hi. My name is Debbie.I'm an RN in the nursing field for >11 years
who developed first latex sensitivity about 4-5 years ago, that
progressed to severe allergy with anaphylasis. I've been out on
workman's comp for > 1 year now and will never be able to work in a
hospital or clinical setting again. Finding a job is almost - once
any prospective employer finds out about my allergy, I DON'T get the
job. I can and do have reactions any and everywhere. I've had severe
reactions after eating in fast food restaurants, in Wal-mart, any
store with balloons up, even going to my allergy doctor I get sick.
But... my allergist says I'm not disabled. I'm devastated that I
cannot work in my lifelong chosen profession. Is there any hope for
people in the medical field with severe latex allergy?
