Anjuli - I had horrible reaction to knee brace several years ago. The
brace was neoprene. After 2 hours my skin looked like I had 2nd
degree burns and I wore the brace over stocking net!
To the group - I have been having trouble with posts. Still haven't
gotten posting straight on LAForum.
My last day of work was 3/12/03. My husband and I were recerting in
ACLS and after they passed out the "faces" the instructor said "oh
yeah, just in case anyone is allergic to latex the faces are made with
it". I had only had contact problems until then. I ended up in my own
ER with reaction. Still trying to settle WC with hospital. Sent info
to OSHA. The hospitals response was proof that here in Alabama latex
allergy "doesn't exist". The hospital stated that it would in the
future provide non-powdered latex and non latex gloves along with
POWDERED GLOVES. And if someone needed sterile gloves they could get
non latex steriles from surgery. They just don't get it. We have
only 1 allergy group in this town and I am due to see the senior
partner Friday for retest. My reactions have been getting worse over
last month. Now I have to stay home for whole week until testing as I
have to take 150mg benadryl to go just about anywhere except for a
walk with the dogs. During VBS (hubby is pastor of church) I was
taking as much as 600 mg benadryl a day. MD got upset so testing is
now set up. Hope I get better result than last year.
Sorry I was so long-winded. So many thoughts to try to catch up with.
Hang on to faith - sometimes it is the only thing that sees you thru.
