Dear Bob,
Check out Yoga Mudras. The fingers have many nerve endings. Just like
reflexology, each section represents a different area of the body.
Months ago, I purchased Mudras: Yoga in Your Hands by Gertrud Hirschi.
She has several hand diagrams, mudras and explanations. You can even
make up your own as you go along. I read that sometimes the body can
spontaneously make it's own mudras during spiritual practice. You'll
also find that people have been putting their hands in a mudra position
unknowingly according to their specific needs for the moment. It's
almost instinctual. I think the book explains that if you know
sanskrit, you might be able to get many of the mudra info through the
ancient texts. I also have a gut feeling that there could be a mantra
to specific mudras.
After taking the Reiki Tummo class, I can feel the shifts more when I
do a mudra than prior to taking the class. The index to thumb seems to
put me in a deeper mode than before and the prayer position (two hands
together) also. I also think, and am quite certain to it, that the
touching your heart area before the quick charge in RT is considered a
mudra also and that's why when I touch my heart area, it quickly
activates it.
Real cool stuff. I treat it like a science experiment. Try it and see
what happens. You can google it also and get some free ones to try in
the meantime.
Enjoy,
Ann
