Hi everyone.
At first, I must say that it was real nice to find this group on the
Internet. Thank you.
I am 46 years old and have been working as a bricklayer for more than
twenty-five years. As a result, various conditions with my hands have
been reoccurring over that period and I have learned to ignore them
rather efficiently. Needless to say, that around six months ago,
when I was diagnosed with Kienbock disease stage 3b, I was certain
that it is a post-trauma condition and on top of this my doctor did
not put any effort to enlighten me in my misunderstanding. When a few
weeks ago, the severeness of my condition came to me, I started to
look franticly for information. Now, having a reasonable understanding
of KD, I am in a panic.
During my last visit with the doctor, which happened more than a week
ago, I inquired about other options of treatment than the ones which
he proposed (I will mention these later) and he became rather
unfriendly. At this point, I am scheduled for a surgery in three weeks
and what was at first only an arthroscopy procedure has now become a
choice between PRC, if the conditions allow, full wrist fusion
(preferred by my doctor), or a postponement of the surgery, if I
persist in annoying my current doctor.
Would anyone try to advise me on what my next move should be? I live
in Liverpool, NSW, does any one knows about a good doctor I could
visit to get a second opinion?
Thank you for your advice.
Adam
P.S. English is my second language and I am very slow with a computer,
so please forgive me if I would be sluggish with responses.
