Description
This is a news-sharing and support group for all those interested in KMC world-wide. Parents, professionals and health care providers are welcome here. We hope to provide a forum for sharing new research, news events, notices of conferences and workshops, and questions and concerns of parents and professionals.
Kangaroo Mother Care is now being practiced world-wide and we hope that people from all around the world will join us here. The needs of newborns around the world are universal and include the need for skin-to-skin contact between mother and newborn, warmth, nutrition and love.
The ways this can be implemented in different cultures will differ however, so we invite members to share what is and what isn't working for them in their particular circumstances. By sharing, we can learn from each other's experiences and provide greater awareness of the needs of newborns, premature and full term, around the world.
We also hope to provide resources and information for professionals opening KMC units in their hospitals. At the same time we would like to address the concerns of parents who have given birth to pre-term or low birth-weight babies.
When joining you may use your own name or a pseudonym of not less than two letters. Only signed posts will be allowed through to the group. If you apply for membership, please give your name or pseudonym (required), geographical location (useful)and tell us a little bit about yourself (helpful).
