RE: [JewishIP] Minimed vs. Animas

I called my rep first. He set up an appointment as he had to change the
software first. He then told me to call Smith Labs (they acquired Deltec a
few months ago) directly and order the attachment. My rep came last Tuesday
and the attachment arrived Erev Shabbos. The attachment has a separate
lithium battery that is supposed to last for 500 tests. When I first called
Smith Labs in August they told me that there might be a charge. As of now, I
haven't been billed for it.
[That, and the fact that the skin
apparently tends to "close up" after a couple days, would deem it wise to
change the site and reservoir every 2-3 days.]
Our Cosmo rep agrees that the site should be changed every 2-3 days but says
that you can change the reservoir once every six days provided there is
enough insulin. The Cosmo has a 300 unit reservoir and we generally only put
in 100 - 150 units. We haven't found any problems following our rep's
recommendations.
