This is a Study Group for those studying to take ICPT's ExCPT test which is given to certify pharmacy technicians in some states; such as Oregon and Minnisota. Some states have a requirement for ExCPT, others give techs a choice between this test and alternative exam, other states use only a different exam and other states have NO requirement for certification at all.
Keep an eye on the changes in law that will allow or require one to take the ExCPT for their state.
As long as there are states that require or allow techs to take this ExCPT exam to be considered 'certified pharmacy technicians' then I believe that I should do all that I can to help educate/tutor/mentor technicians/future techs to understand as much as they can in order to prevent medication errors. As long as states continue to require techs to take such exams BEFORE going to school for formal class education, there is no way that the average person or tech will truly be prepared to take these types of exams.
This is why ICPT has an instructional manual. This is why other exams refer people to specific instructional study guides by APhA and AShP. This is WHY there are so many study guides on the market to help people to learn various concepts in pharmacy practice. Again the MAIN GOAL of this site is to help those who wish to take the ExCPT exam and to become the best technician that they can become in order to AVOID MEDICATION ERRORS AT ALL TIMES and at all costs to PROTECT John Q. PUBLIC.
The offering of this site does not constitute the endorsement of ExCPT as a replacement or equal test to any other existing exam (such as PTCB). This site attempts to address the needs of some techs and students who must or may be allowed to take this exam. Many of the tutorials will be the same as those on (my) JeanettasPTCBStudyGroup.
