Re: Hypnosis is???

I like Richard and love to disagree with him any chance I get. Love
the idea and it could be true. If we consider the concept of the mind
which is a process to create thoughts and break that down into how we
could use the needle idea quite simply.

Consider that we are born with two to three thought processes
depending on how far we want to go.

We could say unconscious process which controls our bodily funtions -
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).

Subconscious process which holds our values and beliefs and is the
key to imagination and emotions. Literally who we are at the core.

Conscious process which is our analytical reasoning and works like a
parent for our subconscious.

If you have not guessed we substitute mind for the word process to
explain what happens. Remember the key is that none of this is
tangible in that you can not see or measure it. It is a process and
the end result is the only thing that can be measured (the thought).

Now to further play with this idea think of how we grow up. When we
are born we start to learn and more learning is going on then most
people realize. After we accept our first belief we develop a new
task for our mind. That is protection of that belief. I believe that
we always have to be right when it comes to our core belief or we
start to develop parts and dis-ease. So imagine if you will how do we
protect our core programming (subconcious mind). Our parent mind or
conscious mind develops a layer called the critical layer which gets
bigger each time we accept a belief. This critical layer protects our
internal core and rejects anything that does not agree with it. We
can do that with filters in the mind the three basic are
generalization, distortion and deletion but that is another subject in
itself. The key is we always have to be right and this takes some
work sometimes in how we create our reality.

So lets do a recap of what the mind could be if we break it down.

Unconscious - bodily functions (PNS)
Subconcious - What we believe and hold as who we are.
Conscious - Our parental process of decision making and protection.
Critical Layer - The check list for acceptance of a What If or Fact.

The older we get and the more we define what we believe the bigger
the critical layer becomes. Also take into effect that each belief
provides a limit to what we can accept or become.

So lets take the hypnosis session and see how this works with the
statements above. First consideration is that we do a pretalk to
better understand the critical layer and the core of the client. The
purpose of the pretalk is to find information that will be accepted
during the session. This is because of the critical layer and the
need to establish desire and belief in the client. Think about it for
a minute - can we just say anything and hypnosis work for everyone?
You can answer that one by yourself. If the client has no desire to
change will they? If they do not believe they will change will they?
All of these questions are addressed in the pretalk for a reason,
agreed?

Altered state - Trance state - Relaxed state and several other states
of mind are used all the time. Key is that the parental state is
taking a break for a minute so the client can practice success and
imagine getting it in my opinion. I think the key is agreement to
accept that they can do it might be more accurate. Muscle fatigue,
old slow, Elman or just saying close your eyes and pretend that you
are somewhere else and you just found the answers to your question.
It is all the same in the end I think.

So what is hypnosis to me personally. It is a process that is used by
professionals to direct focus, and practice success using guided
imagery and the power of thoughts. The key to success is the ability
to bypass the critical layer of the mind to establish new
possibilities. This could be referred to in many ways like a needle
or could be just a guide that has a map of which roads to take to get
to the great and powerful oz.

I will leave you with one more additional thought to ponder. If the
mind is not real and our thoughts are the only thing that is real as
in energy. Then is there a difference between a negative and a
positive thought in how our body uses this created energy. If our
body feeds off from the energy created by thoughts then what energy
have you been feeding your body lately? Could it be that our body
does not use the negative energy very good and instead stores it into
a location in the body till we find a way to release it later. Could
that explain the pain in the necks, backs, and stomach and heart
issues. Could it be that a simple thought can create enough energy
over time to destroy our bodies from the inside out unless we find a
way to use the energy correctly?

I love what we do my friends and if you practice what you teach then
you might really love it as well. Take the time this week to examine
your own mind and are you walking
the talk.

Michael
