Diet will have a big effect on energy throughout the day.
The body starts to metabolize carbs as soon as they hit the mouth.
This will create a fast sense of energy for you or your client.
This is the good news. The issue is not the energy or the fact that
the body can convert carbs into fuel fast but that the energy will
not last long. High carb meals will spike the blood sugar levels
creating an imbalance in the body which the body will respond by
making insulin.
The issue really is that in two hours this energy will start to crash
and the body will be searching for quick fuel (carbs) to get that
boost again.
This is where we will experience cravings for sweets or chocolate.
In order to fuel the body more efficiently it is important to balance
the meal with protein - carbs - fat. In most cases for someone to
feel better and loose weight I would recommend a 40(p)/35(c)/25(f)
meal plan. This can easily be done with a simple protein shake or
meal replacements during the day.
Most meal plans should include anywhere between 250 - 400 calories
per meal every 3 to 4 hours. This will help to balance the energy and
blood sugar levels between 80-120 which is optimum for the body.
