I know that the Gledhill family is not part of this group, but I also know how extremely difficult it is to say goodbye to your child. I know that there are miracles, but we also know that the family is starting their goodbyes and I know how strong prayers can help to lift those who are struggling up. So keep them in your prayers tonight, because goodbyes pretty much just simply suck (and sorry for the word suck, but there are just no other better words.)
And as always, prayers for all of you, with your little ones here and our angels too.
Thanks,
Emily Gourley

For those that have yet to make the move to the new IHH forum you'll
have until March 31st to do so as this will be the last day that we
will be using the yahoo site. I would like to start seeing more of the
traffic being focused towards the new forum. I will start removing
people from the yahoo group that have already made the move to the new
forum next week sometime. As always you can e-mail with any questions
or concerns.

Thanks,

I just wanted to pass on information tomake sure you all were aware of our donation/fundraising needs. Weare currently looking for sponsors for our summer Camp and the HeartWalk. If any of you have personal or business contacts that youthink would be interested in helping out please let us know!

The contact for Fundraising isJennylin: jennylinq@...

Heart Walk is Melissa:busyhoneybee@...

Camp is Jodi: clarktjjc@...

A new way to donate is through eBay Giving Works. This is for if you SELL things on eBay you can electto have between 10% and 100 % of the sale price donated to Intermountain Healing Hearts (when you are listing the item as partof "Choose how you'd like to sell your item" you click on "select another nonprofit you love" and look for our name). So if anyoneis thinking of doing some spring cleaning the donations would surehelp us out!

For regular donations we have a few options. Through PayPal on our website, mailing a check to the POBox and we also have a donation account at Zion's Bank under Intermountain Healing Hearts.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions you have. Thanks!

So it is now 1230am and we just got home an hour ago after a long day up at PCMC, well here is the story.
10am we take Xander to his pedi office for his regular monthly synagis shot and when the nurse checks his o2 they were at 49%, so they stick him on a puls/ox and he stays right close to 66% after calming down a bit (he had just walked from the waiting room to the exam room and was wore out)  His ped checked his liver for signs of heart failure since it is the next place after the heart to get hit and it was low (meaning swollen and out of place, a sign of heart failure) so he called up to cardiology and Dr Su (our cardiologist) is on vacation so they tell us to go to the ER at PCMC right away, they will save a room for us.  So Justin calles in to work and makes arangements for someone to cover for him while we go to the hospital.   We got to the ER at around 1pm and Xander got his room and the girls got some food and toys to play with to keep them happy.  Then they hooked Xander up to o2 and the puls/ox and he was only sating about 72% with 1.5lr of oxygen and we know that's not good, so they do an EKG, chest x-ray, Echo, and draw blood.  From all these tests they see that his heart is working extra hard and that his red blood cell count is quite low, he's aniemic.  By this time it is going on 530pm and they tell us that they are going to keep him and they got him a room on the surgical floor, they need to do a transfusion and try to get his o2 sats up and get him off the oxygen.  We got up to his room # 3086, at around 6-630pm and by this time all the girls are hungry, tired and sick of sitting around in one room, and quite frankly, so was I.

Well after meeting his nurse and the tech who would be taking care of him and talking with all the drs and signing the paperwork we left the hospital around 930pm, took the girls to get something to eat and now we are home.

I feel awful leaving Xander up there by himself, I mean without me or Justin there to comfort him, someone who he knows and wants next to him.  It was so hard to leave him, he was just crying and screaming "dada..... Mama!!"  I had no choice, we had to take care of the three other kids and he is in good hands, but that doesn't change the way I feel about it!

Right now he is sleeping and the blood for the transfusion is still being tested so they haven't started yet but they are puting in quite a bit so it will take 4 hours tonight just to transfuse him and then they will give him an extra dose of his lasix and re-test his blood count a few hours after that.  Hopefuly he will be as good as new and we can bring him home tomorrow, well TODAY!!!

We went back to the hospital on Sat morning after calling and finding out that Xander was doing really well, the blood made all the difference for him.  He was off the oxygen and playing with everyone who would play with him, so the nurse said that in her orders it said that when he was off the oxygen he could go home so we went up there to pick him up.  When we got there we sat around for a few hours and then at around 130pm we were told that they wanted to watch him until 6pm because he did have some de-sats early in the morning so they wanted to make sure he could keep his oxygen where it needs to be.  We were ok with that so we sat around playing with him and the girls, got something to eat and Xander was still doing really well.  Around 430pm another cardiologist came in and told us that they wanted to keep him another night for observation because of his problem earlier in the morning.  We told them that he was doing fine all day long and that we felt he would be better at home with us because the more comfortable he was the better his o2 was, I couldn't leave him up there another night and have him freak out when we left and his o2 levels drop and give them a reason to keep him even longer!  After talking to the cardiologist more he felt fine sending Xander home with us on Sat night, and they are trying to get our ins to pay for a puls/ox for us to have at home to keep a close eye on him but couldn't do it on the weekend because our ins doesn't have a line for dr's on the weekend for pre-aproval :( so that is what we are doing today.

Xander has been doing ok since we got him home only we think he might be getting a little sick, no reason to go back into the hospital but he might have to be on some o2 at home for a little while since his nose is stuffy and that seems to be affecting his oxygen levels (we don't know for sure since we don't have the oxometer yet)  Xander is on Iron suppliments 2/day and still on his Lasix 2/day and his asprin 1/day.  He had to sleep with Justin Sat night because he was afraid that we were going to leave him again but spent most of the night in his crib last night, poor baby doesn't want to be alone!

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for Xander and our family.

Love,
Carman

If you haven't already heard the news . . . a group a musicians (Kurt Bestor, Peter Breinholt, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband, hosted by Sam Payne) are doing a Benefit Concert for Paul Cardall, one of our fellow members who is an adult awaiting a heart transplant.  The concert will take place on April 6, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Cottonwood High School.  Tickets can be purchased at www.livingforeden.com.  I got my tickets yesterday and so I look forward to meeting up with as many of you that can attend.

Today I received an email from Rebecca Cressman on the morning show from FM100.3 and as we emailed back and forth I praised FM100.3 for having a link for Paul's Benefit Concert on their page. They contacted me and in the end I did a radio blurb about how excited I am about this upcoming concert.  They expect it will air on Monday morning.  FM100.3 will also be adding the IHH website to their home page too.

Heart Hugs,

Carolyn Quigley

Such a sad time for them.  I'm sure they could use some support right now.

I was going to post about this too.  My sister emailed me the following information about the show and her son Alec who has TOF and has been to Camp del Corazon...

Hello friends and family,

I just heard some exciting news and thought I would pass it on.  As most of you know, Alec has gone to a wonderful heart camp called Camp del Corazon for several years.  Some of you may also know that Alec had so many wonderful experiences there, but one in particular that was very touching.

Alec had really wanted to climb to the top of the (very tall- like 30-40 feet high) climbing wall.  He wanted to touch the top!  He had tried many times in the past, but had been too scared to climb up all the way.  He tried again, this time with the major encouragement from his favorite counselor, Putter.  He stopped climbing….Putter encouraged him to go a bit further….he did…. then stopped climbing… Putter put on his gear, climbed up beside him, and encouraged him again…. he climbed higher…. then freaked out.  He started calling for me, and wanted to keep going but was too scared.

Putter then did something amazing.  He slung Alec (all 65 pounds of him) on his back and climbed the top of the wall.  Alec even said with concern to Putter as they got near the top, “Can you keep going?”.  Alec was so glad he touched the top of the wall!  We didn’t hear about this story until much later, from a camp nurse who took the attached photo.  We had these photos printed and gave them to Putter as well as the founders of the Camp.  We feel it exemplifies the love, compassion and devotion that Putter and all the Camp staff show the children.

NOW—for the good part--- This story is to be on NBC’s show ER on March 26th!!  They are doing an ER show all about Camp del Corazon, and this is one of the stories that they are doing in the show (we were told it will be with a little girl climbing the wall).  The writer of ER is a close friend of one of the camp founders, and when they were talking about doing the show, she told him about the great story that happened with Alec and Putter and he wanted to include it in the show. This is the second to last ER show ever, as it is the final season.  Just thought I would give you a head’s up so you can watch it and think of Alec!  Alec said “Oh, yeah, I’m going to be famous” when we told him about it!  Ha ha.

Much love,

Leanna

Pretty neat!  We are looking forward to watching.

Hugs & Prayers,
Christina
