Incontinence is : person can't control their bladder & bowels due to
illness(parkinson's, stroke, dementia, alzheimers,sleep apnea, &
etc),injury, certain medicines caused it due to side effects, surgical procedures
like prostate removal.

Sasi is that answers your looking for? If not, maybe another from this group
can help you answer your questions.

Hi Sasi,
put simply, it is the involuntary voiding or release of urine and/or fecal matter for whatever reason.

Kelvin

And I hate to say this and don't want to start a flame war but telling someone to go to google is not going to help educate people into what incontinence is, and how it affects our lives.

Actually, simply asking someone is often much more useful than trying to tease
out the important or relevant results from a web search. Plus, you tend to get
more useful information from a human being than a website that may or may not be
up to date.
I suppose spending the time to dig through web search results does have on
benefit over asking on an incontinence related board: No dealing with grouchy,
snarky jerks who would rather spend time being jerks than being useful.

I tend to go to multiple sources for my information.  I think this group is great for practical input - not necessarily medical experts, but sometimes there are members who do have that expertise, too!

BTW, what is "stfu"?

can be by far the most informative rout to take.

Hii there,
this is really good news, I think the drug you are reffering to is Duloxetine which is an anti-depressant, I have been taking this drug for about 7 months and must admit that my urinary incontinence has become a lot worse since starting it.  I'm neither a chemist or a pharmacist, so I can't honestly say whether the change in your moher's condition is likely to be permanent or not,  Whilst I hop e it is, if it is the duloxetine causing  it, then the chnaces are when the drug is withdrawn the sysmptoms will re-occur.

Mostly, I use pads, but my urologist has prescribed Optima , a male sheath which is used with a collection bag. It  will certainly give your skin a break if you alternate them.

My nurse says I can use them for 24 hours, but I find 8 or 10 hours more than enough with the same sheath.

Hope this is of some help

I find that sometimes that even with Abena diapers are not quite enough and I
frequently use one of their booster pads as well especially if I know I am going
to be away from home for an extended period..

Hi Steve.  I've been incontinent since I was 12, so almost 48 years now.  I've tried lots of disposable diapers but am allergic to all of them.  Also, I have yet to find one that doesn't leak.  So I use gauze prefold diapers at night with plastic pants, and during the day an all-in-one cloth diaper from adultclothdiaper.com.  That one is fitted and works well.  I work five minutes from my house so I go home at break times to change.  I'm probably not the guy to talk to about pads or disposables though, since I've had such rotten success finding one I'm not allergic to.  Oh well!  A little thing like incontinence shouldn't slow us down!
