I have urinary incon with some bowel componant, following
replacement of my cancerous bladder by an internal pouch, a
urinary reservoir made from segments of small and large
bowel, back in 1991.  The pouch is mostly continent, but
leaks as it gets full, and I've lost some sensation and
capability to tell gas from stool due to nerve damage in
surgery.

Oh, FAR from that!  Numerous times I've not been able to find
diapers at Wal_Mart, and I assure you, they don't stock em
just to have a display of adult diapers!  They sell LOTS of
them, and that means many folks are wearing and using them.

How do you mean your doc helped you get them?  Do you mean he
helped get them paid for by insurance or such?

4 hotdogs on the stovetop grill was all I cooked.  I ate 3,

dont feel bad all of us here have the same thing in
common ie we all leak urine.  I my self have been in
diapers for about 5 years, due to an auto wreck.  i am
luck that my family supports me, and i found a
wonderfull lady that i will soon call my wife that has
held my hand all the way.  luckaly she likes changing
me because i have a broken right hand and thumb rite
now.

keep smilling and laughing and dont worry about what
others think of you. if your friends laugh and dont
understand there not friends, and the people that do
notice generaly dont care, there is a little humanity
left in the world.

I can understand your feelings, certainly!  But realize that
VERY few people will ever realize you're in diapers, though
they'd certainly know if you weren't, due to wet pants.....

Have the other injuries healed completely?  Do you have any
other lingering disabilities fromn the wreck?  What was
damaged that caused your incontinence?  Is it only urinary
incon or bowel as well?

How can we help?  What makes you embarrassed about being in
diapers?  Are there specific situations that are worse than
others?  How have your friends reacted to your situation?

There are lots of folks, even your age, in a similar
situation.  That may not make things any easier, but knowing
you're NOT alone often does help.  Feel free to write me if
you wish.

BTW, I'm a 54YO medical professional, diapered 24/7 since
about 1987, who is also a 14 year bladder cancer survivor.  I
work full time, and live a very active life.  I use
disposable diapers during the day at work, and cloth with
plastic pants at home.

hello all just introduceing myself my name is gary and ive been
urinary incontinent all my life iv,e had all the pills several ops to
try and correct the problem but nothing ever helped or worked so i
have to wear a nappy/diaper this is by personal choice as i suffered
from regular bouts of u.t.i when catheterised despite perfect hygiene,
not only that when i was first catheterised in my early twentys i
couldnt go out and sunbathe wear shorts or anything like that ,

Does anyone know of a a reusable product not as bulky as a diaper and
plastice pants that I can use for my leakage . I have tried protective
underware and they are ok but the cost is starting to get a pit too
much . I'm looking for something like regular underware that I can
wash and use again . I thought I saw something that looks just like
underware but cant find it now . It takes just a thin pad that is either
washable or disposable . Does anyone know who has a producit like this
. thanks for any help . MIke

I recieved a sample of the AlphaDry system, and I have to say I am
impressed. It is an external catheter type system, but with a resevoir
and drain valve built in so you don't need clumsy leg bags and such.

It took probably two hours for me to get comfortable with having the
device on, and it does feel a little weird as the resivoir starts to
fill (like having a baloon in your underwear. But it is very discreet
and kept me dry all day with regular draining (every 2-3 hours, about
as often as 'normal people' use the rest room.)

I still wear diapers at night to give my penis a break from the condom,
but it's nice to have a diaper-free solution for daytime use, that can
also be worn at the gym, in a pool, etc. I can wear shorts again!

As a backup, I wore a diaper over the device until I felt sure it
wouldn't leak.

Hello to you. I have the same problem but not continuous. I have had
more than one prostate infection in the past and it has left me with
urges from time to time where I don't feel safe without a diaper. I
am a male 34 and I don't need the world knowing I wear a diaper in
public. I have found that the generic brand sold at Walmart accually
absorbs more and is thinner than alot of the really expensive ones.
Just thought that may help espesially if you're on a budget. Good

I am new to this group. After reading some messengers from the members
I feel more calm. I still wet and have to use diapers every night.
I have been ashamed many times but I am not alone with all this.
I am norwegian and want to meet somebody to talk to.
The group AB/DL I have seen - I think that is a good group. I have
already met somebody, incontinent and not incontinent.
