Hi all,

I'm new here and can't tell how serious this group is but I wanted
to share my experience in the hope that it can help others.

Like many menopausal women, I suffer(ed) from stress and urge
incontinence. When I would cough or sneeze or even laugh I would
leak urine (sometimes a little, sometimes a lot) all over myself. I
had this after I gave birth too but it went away so I thought it
would go away this time too...but it didn't. After several years
and a lot of pads and dry cleaning and embarassing moments, I
finally talked to my dr about it. He basically told me that my only
options was surgery. Having had a very bad surgical experience in
the past, I wasn't about to have another operation without some
serious research.

In doing my research I came across a device which claimed to be able
to help me strengthen my pc muscles to the point that I wouldn't
need the surgery. I was skeptical but willing to try since the
surgery was such an unpleasant concept. I was a bit hesitant at
first because of the expense ($80) but I went ahead and tried it
since I realized that pads and/or surgery would eventually cost me
way more than that. IT WORKED!! After exercising for about 3.5
weeks, I stopped leaking completely. I can laugh and even go
running again. It's so, so wonderful that I had to share for anyone
having the same problem. The device is called the Kegelmaster
(didn't really like the name but hey, it worked). It's available
all over but I found the best deal at
http://www.informedchoiceproducts.com

I really, really recommend it for any woman suffering from stress or
urge incontinence. I'm happy to answer questions about my
experience using it so feel free to email me. I hope this email
helps at least one other person, then I'll feel I've done a good
thing.

Blessings to you all,

Tip

I mix cloth and disposables to keep the costs of incontinence down.
When I am at home and have no plans to leave the house I try to wear
cloth, but disposables are just easier for when I am busy (which is
most of the time.)

Hi,

My name is Anthony, first let me tell you about me, I'm a 25 year
old male who lives in the Albuquerque area. I'm about 6'3" and I'd
say 280 lb. I have brown hair. I have blue eyes and I wear glass. I
work as a manager for a national company, and I love it. I like,
Sowing, Medieval stuff, Swords, Armor, Castles, etc., Building sand
castles, Star Trek, Star Wars, I guess sci-fi in general, Cars,
Computers, Religion, Art, Home making, Cooking, Drawing, Movies,
Music, Toys in general. I'm also Dyslexic so my reading and writing
is not so good, so please forgive the bad grammar. That is about it,
ok so why am I writing this? I'm a bed/pants wetter! You see I was in
a car wreak, and now I wet the bed almost ever night and my bladder
control is not to good. Needless to say I'm in diapers both day and
night. Plus I'm tired of being alone, and I have a lot to offer
someone. I just can't seem to find that someone, I've tried
everything from personals to the web with no luck. So I'm going to
give it one last try, my hope is this letter will find it why to
someone who like me needs someone. So what am I looking for, Well I
guess for starters is a friend. Someone I can trust, and in return
trusts me. I would like to find someone open, friendly, funny,
spontaneous, you know the type we all like to hang out with. Someone
who is comfortable with herself. She would need to be able to put up
with a guy in diapers. Or if like me she needs of wants to wear
diapers day or night or both, that would be cool beans too. What can
I offer, well I guess first I'm a nice guy, I don't smoke, I don't
drink, I don't use drugs. I have a good but sometimes twisted sense
of humor, I get along with just about everyone I know. I have a good
job and make good money, and I have a house, I'm a fairly clean guy,
(as guys go), I can sow, and cook, I also have a softer side as well.
I guess all and all I'm the biggest little kid you'll every meet. On
top of it all I alone, I'm sick of coming home to an empty house. I'm
sick of not having anyone to talk to, hang out with, to cuddle with.
I'm tired of well I guess of just being by myself, I want someone I
can care for. Someone I can help, someone who is like me is strong on
the out side, but fragile on the inside. Someone who just needs to be
loved! I know I have a lot of faults, I'm human and far from
perfected. I also know there has to be someone out there who is
looking for what I am. In writing this letter I'm hope that is finds
that one person who is in need as I. Well I guess I don't really have
much more to say so have a great day.

Hi

My name is Anthony, I'm a 25 year old male who lives in New
Mexico. I'm posting this as I hope to find someone to love. I make
good money, I even have my own house, all I need now is a girlfriend.
Why post here, for all I have the one thing I don't is bladder
control. You see I was injured in a car wreak, so I now am in diapers
full time. I can't seem to find a girl who can deal with that, SO I
figure, since I'm having so much trouble, there has got to be a girl
like me out there with the same problem. What I'm looking for is a
girl between 21 and 25, who is funny, fun to be around, and just all
around cool. She needs to be able to deal with a guy in diapers. She
can be a bed wetter, or just like to wear diapers too. What I'm not
looking for is a mommy (I can change myself thanks), or a high
maintenance brat (my brothers got one of those). I'm hope that there
is a girl out there for me. If it is you, please write, I've been
looking for you for a long time. Soggy_Sleepers@... Thanks for
your time and have a great day.

I am just now listening to a man who owns a health products
company, with 60 employees total. His business isn't
completely in they tank, but he's not having the best time of
it. He suggested that it's not particularly a business he'd
recommend others get into, though obviously he has an
interest in keeping others out to maintain his customers.
One major complaint he's offering is the increase in costs
for health care for his own (Diamed) company.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but
it's my contribution....

i have been incon 24/7 now for more years than i like to remember.
started after an accident. used disposos at first that was when you
could not find one that didnt leek i would stuff them 2&3 at a time
to stop leeks. could not find plastic pant that was any better.then i
started to make my own plastic pants [ i hate a wet bed]i found that
large bath towels make very good diapers. i used to be very self
conious about wearing diapers was very depressed. i even thougt of
killing myself but i went to a good srink.[thank god]now after meny
sessions i no long let them get to me and i dont hide the fact that i
wear diapers at all.i have learned to make light of the fact i wear
diapers .not the fact im incontinent that can be serous if you dont
go to doctor to see what is wrong. you can cause your bladder to over
fill and shut your kidneys down if not watching what you do. that is
what was about to happen to me.so from an old gramps go to the doctor
regurly. so laugh at your diaper back side and live a good long time.
later.

Seeing people placed in homes because they're incontinent gave ex-
nurse her idea

Margie Mason
AP

Monday, December 30, 2002

AP / Peggy Lu Fay, owner of Life Styles Emporium, poses with reusable
diapers inside her sewing room in Santa Cruz, Calif. The county
government awarded her a $20,000 grant to support her efforts to
develop a reusable product for incontinent adults. Each year,
disposable adult underwear accounts for an estimated one ton of waste
per adult in landfills, and the county is hoping to promote reusable
diapers to cut down on that waste.

Peggy Lu Fay spent years visiting nursing homes, where she met many
patients who were forced to leave their homes for only one reason:
their loved ones simply could not handle caring for them after they
became incontinent.

It was a heartbreaking scenario that led Fay to search for a way to
help. She started selling adult reusable diapers that were cheap,
environmentally friendly and custom-made to make it easier for
caregivers.

"Couples who are married 50 or 60 years are pulled apart and
separated at the end of their lives," said Fay, a former nurse. "This
gives them what they need to stay home."

Santa Cruz County awarded Fay a $20,000 grant last January to
manufacture her own cloth diapers, complete with a laundering
service.

Inside the nondescript green warehouse that doubles as a showroom,
she has an array of fabrics, prints and sizes to fit everyone,
including babies.

Von Wilmot discovered Fay's Life Styles Emporium and asked her to
design something that would comfortably fit her husband's large size
and absorb night-time accidents. The couple came in for a fitting,
and after a few alterations ended up with a personally designed cloth
diaper complete with thick layers that fold together to form several
centimetres of padding.

"They're wonderful. It was just sort of magic," Wilmot said. "It was
about keeping him dry at night, not having to throw out stuff and not
having to pay out money all of the time."

And saving is really the reason Santa Cruz County got involved. A
fully incontinent adult contributes about a tonne of waste to the
landfill each year, said Jeffrey Smedberg, the county's recycling
programs co-ordinator.

"We had a lot to learn about adult diapers, and, in a sense, they may
be even more of an impact on landfills than baby diapers.

"(Baby diapers are) smaller and people outgrow them fairy quickly,"
he said. "Once people need to start using (adult diapers) it could be
years and years and they're still using them."

The concept is catching on elsewhere. In November, officials in Santa
Clarita announced a six-month pilot project that will involve 500
families putting disposable baby diapers on the curb to be recycled.
The materials will be reused in non-food packaging and products such
as wallpaper, plastic decking, even shoe insoles.

"This is the first city in the United States that has done this,"
said Fiona Hutton of Knowaste, the New York-based company behind the
pilot program.

"Not too many years ago, there was no bottle or aluminum recycling.
They've done a great job with those items. It's really easy to
recycle, and city and county leaders have to look to the next step."

Knowaste has a major diaper recycling plant in Arnhem, Holland, that
processes 100,000 tonnes of diapers each year, much of which consists
of adult diapers from nursing homes and hospitals.

And while that's important to Fay and her four co-workers, it's just
one of many reasons people come to her.

Cloth diapers cost about $30 to $60 US a piece, but they're good for
about 300 washes. That compares to disposable diapers, which can cost
$1.25 a piece for a bag of 40 to 45. But disposable diapers do have
their place, and some say cloth contributes to more skin irritations,
especially rashes.

"Older people who tend to be on a fixed income are trying to get by
on less than more," said Nancy Muller, executive director of the
National Association For Continence. "They don't change the garments
often enough or they stuff reusable towels in there and then they end
up with skin problems."

But Muller said she's happy the subject is at least starting to be
discussed more openly. Many adults are so ashamed of their
incontinence problems, she said, they end up locking themselves away
at home far from society.

Many young women experience some type of leakage after giving birth
and require some type of absorbency product, along with men and women
suffering from spinal injuries or diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

But Fay said Life Styles Emporium also caters to those younger
clients. The company makes everything from bright colours with lace
ruffles, such as lime green and lemon yellow, to leopard-print
bikinis.

One young woman in a wheelchair came into the showroom with her
mother and just started crying as she looked at the different
products available.

"She said, 'I had no idea anyone would think to make anything like
that for someone like me,' " Fay recalled. "It makes you feel like
what you're doing is worthwhile."

Dear Group

If any of you find that where you travel is limited because you may not be
able to find a restroom, you may be interested in the Public Restroom
Initiative.

If you'd like to help, and you can write, our current project involves
writing "model code"
http://metroped.org/Restroom/Policy/ModelCode.htm

Corrections and suggested text are welcomed.

Look forward to hearing from some of you.
