Sophie's Walk For Vasa Previa Is Coming Up Fast.  We need YOUR help to continue and increase our awareness campaigns.  The IVPF only sponsors one large fundraising event each year.  And this is it.  Please help us with this very important cause!

The following is a sample email that you can use for your own local walks, even if you are walking privately.  Be sure to replace my name and walk date with yours (either the 30th of September or the 1st of October).  Please consider organizing a walk in your area if there isn't one already.  It can be as simple as a family bar-b-que or as elaborate as you would like.  The IVPF mailing campaign was quite successful, but that also means that we now need money to sponsor some 2 dozen hospital education events the campaign has spawned thus far.  Future mailing campaigns are in the works and we are attending more medical conferences than ever before.  In fact, these days the medical organizations sponsoring the conferences frequently request that the IVPF be present.  Even though our records show that the infant death rate of cases reported to us has dropped 20% since we've organized, babies are still dying and so much still needs to be done.

If you haven't registered yet, please do so right away!  If you have registered, many thanks and we'll see you on the 30th of September!

Saving lives one baby step at a time

In memory of Sophie Isabelle Macadar ^i^

Please help us prevent infant death from vasa previa

The weekend of September 30th - October 1st, the International Vasa Previa Foundation will commemorate the anniversary of Sophie's birth by sponsoring a worldwide 5K walk (3.125 miles) in cities around the world.

The International Vasa Previa Foundation (IVPF), is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) all volunteer charitable organization founded by parents who've experienced this devastating condition.

Vasa previa is a condition that if undiagnosed, has an infant death rate as high as 95%.  When diagnosed prenatally via color Doppler ultrasound, the survival rate is almost 100%.   Research has proven that infant death from vasa previa is an avoidable tragedy.  This is one tragedy we CAN do something about!  Awareness is so important.

Sophie's Walk is the most important fundraising event that the IVPF sponsors each year. The proceeds go towards research and education to prevent vasa previa deaths.  Visit SophiesWalk.org/walk  for more information about Sophie's Walk and to register to walk.

If you are unable to walk with us, a donation would be greatly appreciated.
