Sophie's Walk 2006 is only 2 months away!!!!!!!!

You are receiving this e-mail, either because you participated in Sophie's Walk for Vasa Previa in the past or because you have expressed interest in organizing Sophie's Walk in your area for 2006 or we are hoping that you will participate in the IVPF's most important fundraiser this year.  Sophie's Walk is a very important part of the IVPF's awareness campaign.  With YOUR help we intend to eliminate infant death from vasa previa!  It only takes an hour to walk 5k (a little over 3 miles).  If you know of someone else interested in helping us organize the 2006 Walk, please feel free to forward this email to them and have them contact us at SophiesWalk@...  Be sure to visit the Sophie's Walk site to see how much fun this can be:  http://SophiesWalk.org/walk  Also visit http://SophiesWalk.org/sophie to learn about how the walk got started.

If you are interested in organizing a Walk in your city this year, we need confirmation from you by August 5th that you indeed will be organizing a walk.  Please respond to this email with your confirmation.  We thank you if you have already confirmed. We also need to know if this will be a "private" Walk (smaller than 50 people) or a Walk with more than 50 people as we need to process appropriate insurance and location permits.

The first meeting for Walk Captains will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:00 A.M. EST in the IVPF general chat room.  Specific information for the meeting will be sent to you as soon as you confirm your intention to organize a Walk.

In the meantime, we encourage you to download and review the IVPF Sophie's Walk Manual, particularly if you are planning a larger public walk.  The manual can be downloaded by right-clicking on http://SophiesWalk.org/Docs/walk/Sophie'sWalkManual.PDF and doing a 'save target as'.  It is a little over 1mb. 

An important change in this year's Walk is the date.  Sophie's Walk for Vasa Previa will take place over the weekend of September 30, October 1 2006.  While we simply cannot accomodate any other dates, this year's Walk captains are free to choose to have their local Walk take place on either of these two days.  The International Vasa Previa Foundation will not sponsor walks that take place on any date other than September 30, October 1 2006.
