I am Thankful:

FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE TEENAGERWHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES,
BECAUSE IT MEANS HE IS AT HOME
AND NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN UP AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT,
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH
WHO SINGS OFF KEY ! !
BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

YOU KNOW,
I AM THANKFUL FOR MY SHOES,

BECAUSE THAT MEANS I AM NOT BAREFOOT!!

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE
BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

AND FINALLY,
EVEN FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

NOW GO AHEAD AND SEND THIS
TO SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT.
     I JUST DID.

Same to you and your family too, Saya !

Now SWO's in Chin hills and every one else is apparently quiet - so
for me nothing else to report to the group.

We always appreciate your bios on the Pioneers series, appreciate more
for sharing with other groups too.

So glad to see other IM 1 grads are contributing in their own ways. We
also got the idea from 1979 group - so whatever way, we could help -
should make a tiny difference in their peaceful retired lives.

'Tis the season !

Dear Friends,

This morning, together with Myint Myint Win who arrived Ygn yesterday afternoon, Theresa,Ma Saw Mu and me go to Dr. Dutt's place and contributes quarterly regular financial support of 40,000 Kyats plus 50,000 Kyats left to contribute for age 75 and above Saya Kadaw Pwel ,held in last month.  Dr. Dutt is now 77, hard in hearing, left eye operated for cataract, right eye is about to operate soon.  Now, he is hiring an apartment which is quite fair, situated in No. 50, 3rd floor, Aawba Street, Kyauk Myaung, much better than previous place in Hlaing Thar Yar.
Anyway, I m quite happy that because of our efforts, our old Sayas get a lot of support from other batches of IM 1 and hope their daily lives are quite different from previous years with much better standard of living.  Here are some photos attached.

Dear Johnny, as you'd already started it, even thou it was intended for your kids, I think you should share with the rest of us. I would like to know your  premedical college years, from kidder garden to high school, and what had happened from 1972 to 1988, and why you were denied of the professorship, I heard some rumors, but I would like to hear it from the horse's mouth, and then the years in almost exile, in Bangalar Dash, in Pe-Jing, and in Fiji etc etc.. Please write it after you'd retired, I will bet every one is itchy to death to find out.
Hope you will fulfill our wish,
TMT.

Writing autobiograhies has been defined as the ultimate self-
gratificatin (using a less rude word than it was defined !). Ko TMT -
have started this some years ago, not for publication but for my
children.

Am very fond of physicains who took up writing and became famous:
Somerset Maughman esp. Of Human Bondage; AJ Cronin - Adventurs in
the Two Worlds, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his Sherlock Holmes
stories based on a Profesor of Medicine from Guy's Hopsital London,
Ricahrd Gordon - an anesthetist who wrote the Doctor in the House
Series; Dr. Robin Cook and his books;

Saya maung Maung Nyo is the only Burmese author who has writen
autobiogra[phical and semi-biographical books in Burmes; SAyagyi U
Myint Swe who wrote in Burmese " Hmat Me Bar Thay The, Japanese Khit
Yangon Say Yone Gyi Wai"

What I had jotted down , many may consideed as either incredulous or
libelous !!!!

Cheers

Guys, please do not worry about losing your idendity, Med-school  alumni has nothing to do with the local associations, or groups.IM-1RTFand or BAMA will carry on with their own agendas, Alumni is  the ex-college studends trying to have fun and to help out our old college..

Please let me assure you of a number of things (a) we really want
im1rtf to go on as you are doing excellent work (b) I wrote earlier
that meeting SWO, ASW  and Thin Thin were an inspiration for me: the
fact that Ko Aye Ngwe, Ko Tin maung Tun and I joined you all , is we
just want to join hands.(c) I will be retiring soon so wil have time
to give a lot of thought to the idea od the Alumni assocaition (d)
all of us feel that we need to repay the debts we owe to our
teachers, our school , our country (e) we all feel taht if we all
unite somehow in a focussed way, we may achieve more

Let me quote one of my closest friends and colleague in UNICEF, what
he often say when tough issues about children were being raised and
he wanted people to do more:

IF NOT NOW, WHEN ?

IF NOT THIS, WHAT ?

IF NOT YOU, WHO ?

I will leave you all with the above three questions.

Love

Saya

Do you mean TOKM,? The time I was with him was from 1962 to 1971, it won't be fair just to write about that period only, I think we should push him to do the autobiography, I won't mind if he reveals all my nge-jyo-nge-nar in his writing. What about it , Johnny ? If you don't mind I will tell the group about our time in wards 5 & 6.
Stan, you'd missed the good show, Mo-Di and Kin-Kaung are very talented and funny comedians, the San Francisco show was one of the best. I hope the video will be available soon.
Happy Holiday season to all of you,
Tony Lee.

Saya Tony Lee:

Why don't you write about our most energetic and most prolific
contributor to online (at least that I know of) Burmese medical
community ?

For me, he definitely deserves a place in our hearts - always.

(A friend from Bay area sent in your photos with other visiting
comedians from Burma - just envy your hobby !)

Thanks much, Saya !

the stage of planning, we do need the devil advocates to point out
