Welcome to ICAN of the Twin Cities online forum! The International Cesarean Awareness Network is a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). Free monthly meetings are held the second Monday of the month in the Twin Cities area. In addition, we have a library of birth-related books, articles and cesarean/VBAC related research; provide individual telephone or e-mail support, do presentations to any group interested in cesarean prevention or VBAC, attend birth-related events, and generate media coverage for group activities and cesarean issues in the news. This online forum is intended to provide additional information, discussion and support to meeting attendees as well as to women unable to attend meetings or those outside of the immediate Twin Cities area. Birth professionals who support ICAN's mission and those interested in birth advocacy are welcome. ICAN membership is not required to join this list or to attend meetings, though your support through membership allows us to better serve birthing women and families throughout our community. This is a no-flaming area - strictly enforced. All topics within the subject of birth are welcome and all participants are asked to treat each other with respect. Disrespectful participants will be removed from the list. New members must agree to follow list guidelines and respond to the list owner with an introduction before approval to join the list will be granted and membership may be moderated. In the interest of list privacy this list will not be archived here and may not be archived by external sources, nor reproduced without prior consent. List postings may not be shared with those outside this list. For additional information contact icantwincities@gmail.com or visit our website at http://www.icantwincities.org
