Routine and complex anesthetics include: Neonatal surgery Neurosurgery Cardiothoracic Surgery Craniofacial surgery Scoliosis repair Organ transplantation Robotic surgery Complex Airway Management Didactic lecture schedule includes: Weekly Fellows Conference Weekly Grand Rounds Journal Club Wayne State Univ. Clinical Conference Professional meetings Research opportunities encouraged Children's Hospital of Michigan, founded in 1886, is the only freestanding hospital in Michigan dedicated exclusively to caring for children. CHM is a 228-bed hospital whose emergency room treats more than 70,000 children annually. Anesthesia is provided for over 15,000 surgeries each year in a congenial clinical environment. An active pain service as well as a 40-bed NICU and a 20-bed PICU provide fellows with a well-rounded pediatric anesthesia experience. The teaching faculty is comprised of 15 fellowship trained pediatric anesthesiologists, all of whom are board certified.
