All training takes place in both the Surgical ICU (8-10 months) and Medical ICU (2-4 months). There is also the option of one-month electives both at the Worcester Medical Center in the Echo Lab and at UMass Memorial in TEE training. The SICU provides a rich environment for the training of anesthesiologists interested in the practice of critical care medicine. The program is administered by full-time anesthesiologists-intensivists, broadly covering the cognitive and skill components essential to this multidisciplinary specialty. Duration is one year and it is fully accredited by the ACGME. Please note that this is an advanced fellowship and that all potential candidates must have completed an Anesthesiology residency in the U.S. Fellow call is from home 50% of the time (weekdays and weekends) when at the UMass Memorial. 3 weeks vacation, 5 sick, 3 personal, 5 meeting days, and a $1500 educational stipend offered.
