Dear Dr. Ghandchi – IAMA Central:

On behalf of the Massachusetts chapter I would like to introduce to you Dr.
Roksana Sasanfar who has approached us to help her in any way we can as per the
guidelines and bylaws of IAMA in assisting fellow Iranian Healthcare providers.

Dr. Roksana Sasanfar is a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Center for Human Genetic
Research affiliated with Harvard Medical School. After graduating from medical
school in Tehran in 1998, she pursued her research interest in genetic deafness
in Iran followed by identifying the genetic risk factors for autism in the
Iranian population.

With the help of Dr. Susan L. Santangelo at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Sasanfar
has collected, stored and transferred DNA samples from the autistic Iranian
population and transferred them to the U.S.A. for proper, sophisticated analysis
at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

The above research project on Iranian autistic children’s DNA samples has been
funded by the National Institute of Mental Health up to now. Since Dr. Sasanfar
is not a permanent resident of the U.S. she does not qualify for federal grants.
The existing funds fore her project have ran out and there is an Immediate need
to raise $50,000.00 to continue the project, establish a more permanent
employment status for her at the M.G.H. and ultimately enrolling her in the
faculty appointment process.

Dr. Sasanfar has agreed to return this fund to IAMA Central in a timely manner
once she has established herself in the U.S.A to be used exclusively for the Bam
Hospital project.

It is up to the Iranian medical community to step up to the plate and put into
action the talks about supporting each other for the ultimate common good.
