Physically Damaged Pituitary -- Looking for a doctor who can help.   Message List

Re: Physically Damaged Pituitary -- Looking for a doctor who can help.

Thanks Chris. My GP is a DO and wants me to find a doctor who treats
damaged pituitaries and he'll work with that doctor to improve my
health.

My hormones are within range and were before & after surgery. They
are not the problem. This GP put me on cortisol anyway and it did
not help my symptoms of extreme & chronic fatigue.

My problem is a damaged pituitary with sores that were bleeding and
some dead spots seen by the neurosurgeon while getting rid of a 1.2
cm cyst. As well as the pituitary being misshaped now -- it appears
on the MRI as a straight line "______" not a "o".

My neurosurgeon believes the large cyst just beat the hell out of my
pituitary everytime I moved my head and did this for a long time.

I know that all the pituitary is suppose to do is make hormones and
mine does that. But my physically damaged pituitary must be working
hard to get it's job done while being so damaged. I believe it has
to work extra hard because it is weakened from the physical damage
and that is why I think I have hypo-pituitary symptoms -- i.e., from
my pooped pituitary.

I'm looking for a doctor who knows about a physically damaged
pituitary and how to make it healthier. I realize that this is a
very rare problem, and therefore, I am unable to find any doctor who
knows anything about what to do for this.

Any suggestions on where I could look? None of my many fine doctors
have any idea of where I might look. Pam

Pam, most people with pit tumors are still in range after surgery. In range means little. A damage pit does not function in the optimal part of the ranges....
