RE: [HoustonTXLyme] (unknown)

Angie,

I was a Mannatech distributor a couple of years ago and got my family involved, went to their yearly conference the first year, and took the products, especially the Ambrotose, but I never took massive quantities of it.
My sister, Nola, told me that she took Ambrotose regularly for about six months but not massive quantities (maybe a teaspoon or two per day almost every day I think is what she took) and it was after that, that she started having much more neurological pain, and was diagnosed with CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy -- which is just the high priest medical doctor Latin way of saying, "you got long term degeneration of a bunch of nerves, including losing the myelin sheath, that is very painful and inflamed."  She believes there was a connection between the Ambrotose and the degeneration of her neuropathy.
Now, she has been an insulin dependent diabetic for many years, and she's overweight, so that could factor in.  But I told her, from what I've read, the bugs/ketes probably like to eat the Ambrotose as well, and probably the reason they recommend massive quantities (and I don't know if they know this), is that you have to feed the bugs first, and only then will you have enough left over so that your body will have enough to do any good.  But who can afford to spend hundreds of dollars a month on Ambrotose alone:?o  I think there must be better ways to fight Lyme disease.
Ambrotose is a nutrient...containing special types of sugars...so, the only way it can help is if your body has a deficiency of these nutrients.  My take is this: what would cause a deficiency?  The bugs must be sucking out what we eat before we can get it.
So, I think the most practical strategy is to put the disease into remission, at least, before you try to reconstitute the missing glyconutrients by taking a concentrated form of them.  I don't know...that's just my opinion.  I don't know of anyone personally who has experienced a miraculous cure from any disease like they talk about on those audio tapes.
Now, my colon therapist (pardon my French) told me a client of hers took her to a meeting, trying to sign her up, where the speaker was talking about a study where they are going to have people take a strict regime of Mannatech products including taking about two large tubs (90 grams each?) within the first month, BUT...they don't have funding for the study yet, so instead of "waiting" for funding (if they ever get it from where ever), people are paying $2700 for 6 months, which I think is basically the wholesale cost of all those products.  So, if you want to find out about that study, maybe you could get into it for free, if they ever get funding ( I can't help but wonder if that is just a gimmick )...just don't let them talk you into paying all that money to be in the study!  The study is good for the company, but they want people to pay for all the product.  Sounds a little fishy.
Well, I don't think their products are the miracles for everyone, like they imply, which is not to say that they cannot be useful...they probably are very good products, but I think how and when to take them for maximum effect on your health is still in question, and the fact that it is multi-level obscures the facts with the hype.

Science has now proven that proper dietary amounts of Glyconutrients can retard growth of bacteria in two ways: by preventing the binding and reproduction of the bacteria, and increasing the alertness of the immune system's white blood cells.

Have Glyconutrients Helped People With Lyme Disease?
