Subject: Thank You For Contacting My Office
Dear Mr. Buntyn:
Thank you for contacting me about the Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Prevention, Education, and Research Act of 2005 (S. 1479/H.R. 3427). I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.
As you may know, Senator Christopher Dodd introduced S. 1479 July 25, 2005. Representative Christopher Smith introduced H.R. 2877 on August 5, 2005. Both versions of legislation would provide for the expansion and intensification of efforts to prevent, educate, and research Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. In addition, it would establish a Tick-Borne Diseases Advisory Committee.
S. 1479 has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions for review. Although I am not a member of the Senate committee with primary jurisdiction over this matter, you may be certain that I will keep your views in mind should relevant legislation be considered by the full Senate.
I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
