Hi all,
Well, it seems that no one is interested in discussion any more.
Either all of you are very smart or very dumb.
Either way it is not good for the group.
Please note that it is the different opinions and ideas that brings the special
merit to a group.
So in future please come up with more ideas.
Any way pleases see below a summary of post viral arthritis.
I have purpose fully omitted the homeopathic management from the summary.
Any/all of you can complete it.
Each one may send at least one medicine with its particular symptamatology in
arthritis. It OK even if there is repetition.
Post Viral Arthritis
Introduction
The phenomenon of post viral infection is not a new one. It is long known that
most viral infections are accompanied by arthritis, namely joint pain and
inflammation. This is in fact an immunological reaction as with many other signs
and symptoms of viral infections. But unlike other symptoms in viral arthritis,
the immune system's response to the virus causing inflammation in the joints
remain for a variable period of time even after the virus is eliminated from the
body. Rarely the joint may even become permanently damaged.
Some of the most common viri are listed below.
Rubella
The joints are usually not inflamed, but they are stiff and painful. The hands,
knees, wrists, ankles, and elbows are most commonly affected. The joint pain of
rubella usually goes away within two weeks, but in some cases it can last for
several years.
Hepatitis B
It can cause a severe and sudden form of arthritis in hands and knees and also
the wrists, ankles, elbows, shoulders, and other large joints are also affected.
The arthritis often starts before the jaundice of hepatitis, and it may last for
several weeks after the jaundice is gone. For patients with chronic hepatitis
there can be on and off arthralgia.
HIV
When people are newly infected with HIV, they often have flu-like symptoms with
joint pain. Besides this about 10 percent of HIV patients have severe
intermittent joint pain. It is mostly in the shoulders, elbows, and knees. Also
patients with HIV are much more likely to develop reactive arthritis, Reiter's
syndrome, and psoriatic arthritis.
Arbovirus
Chikungunya, Dengue, Ross River, Yellow fever, J.E., Rift Valley
Alphavirus is one such arbo virus causing Chikungunya, Rose River disease etc.
Parvovirus B-19 causing fifth disease (erythema infectiosum, or slapped cheek
disease).
Symptamatology.
Not that most of these infections have fever, congested body systems,
conjunctival injection, varying degree of body pain (myalgia) and an
maculo-papular rash as common symptoms. The fever usually lasts from two to five
days and subsides automatically even if nothing is done for it. The rash also
goes down moroless at the same time. Patient recover dramatically after two to
five days and is active and alive. The arthritic symptoms may persist or even
start after some time to last longer. The severity of symptoms especially the
arthritic ones is more in aged patients. It seemed to be less in young ones and
also in pregnant ladies!
Now a new (not-surprising) finding is that the severity of the symptoms
particularly the arthritic ones is in direct proportion with the amount of
NSAIDS or antibiotics used by the patient in the initial febrile state. Those
who resorted to home remedies or even went without any particular drug to the
febrile state had very less crippling after effects. (this has been verified by
me in my clinical trials many number of times!)
Differential Diagnosis
OA,
RA (RA factor, CRP),
Gout (hyperurecaemia),
SLE (non erosive arthritis, ANA),
Psoriatic arthritis,
Septic/Pyogenic arthritis,
RF etc.
Management and Treatment
Treatment is symptomatic and in conventional medicine the agents used are
acetaminophen (Tylenol) or a NSAID such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
Also note that as general management hot/warm fomentation is very good. Washing
the body in hot water before retiring will help to reduce the (next day) morning
stiffness to a large extend. Doing systematic and symmetrical active or passive
breaking of the joints is also a good physiotherapy technique. Also avoid
exposure to cold and damp conditions.
Homeopathic management
The difficulties and even deformities can be easily and effectively managed by
homeopathic drugs. It should be used along with the above mentioned general
management.
Now the drugs....................(fill this up and send back)!
