As an extensi on of Mark Hughes ’ commitment to scientific research, the University of California, Los Angel es (UCLA) has established the Mark Hughes Cellular&Molecular Nutrition Lab, located in Warren Hall on the campus grounds. The lab is part of the highly
respected UCLA Center for Human Nutrition headed by Dr.David Heber, Professor of Medicine and Public Health at UCLA and t he Founding Director of  the UCLA Center f or Human Nutrition
.
A strategic move into the future of nutrition science
The Mark Hughes Cellular &Molecular Nutrition Lab was made possible through a generous donation from Herbalife. The mission of this newly established laboratory is to advance nutritional science to new levels of understanding by using the most progressive research and development technologies available. As a result,Herbalife will lead the way in developing new scientific standards in the fields of nutrition and herbal medicine that will ultimately help make a difference in people ’s lives through highly effective herbal approaches to weight management and optimum wellness.
Taking Mark ’s vision to the next level
The new lab, which carries on Mark ’s legacy in name and purpose, will enable UCLA researchers for the first time to fingerprint herbs using a method called “Multidimensional Profiling.” While many laboratories have used chemical methods to identify herbal products, the UCLA lab will routinely couple this chemical profiling with tests of the effects of herbs on living cells.Going forward,Herbalife intends to take full advantage of the expertise at UCLA and other major universities
by committing to support research that will utilize herbs that have been identified and profiled using these state-of-the-art techniques.
The new Scientific Advisory Board
Herbalife has made this donation as part of a multipronged strategy that will revolutionize the industry. Not only is the Mark Hughes Cellular &Molecular Nutrition Lab being established at UCLA, but Herbalife has committed to gathering a Scientific Advisory Board of nationally and internationally recognized scientists who will plan and execute new research to establish the scientific basis for new cutting-edge products. In addition, Herbalife will support and expand its
Medical Advisory Board of distinguished physicians, scientists and nutritionists who will communicate this breakthrough information,as well as the benefits of Herbalife products to Distributors and customers around the world.
Herbalife sets the standard
With the addition of the Scientific Advisory Board and the Mark Hughes Cellular &Molecular Nutrition Lab as resources, Herbalife is fast becoming the standard by which all wellness companies are measured. The Mark Hughes legacy continues, advancing good health to levels we ’ve yet to
imagine.This is only the beginning.
