You Are My Love

I cannot remember
the last time I told you
either by word or by feeling
that you are the most
important aspect of my life.
You are my inspiration.
You are my love.

I was thinking today
as I looked out over the sky
when the moon was scared away
by the suns beginning rays
that like clock work
the Sun rises in the East
but it sets in the West.
I want to show you that
same constant in your life and in your heart
so you learn to trust me.

I am not sure when the last time
it was I told you I love you,
so I am telling you now
I love you.

Have I let you know
that troubles exist in life?
Potholes exist on roads after storms.
Obstacles are there to
teach us to overcome them.
Black holes take up space
in hearts that have been
hurt too many times to count.
You are important to me.
Loving you is vital to me.

This undying, unconditional feeling
I have for you, is never going to end
for it is wrapped up in the essence
of who and what I am and will
reside with me forever.

Our world is caught up
in so many things that mean
nothing to us ever
like landing on the moon
or playing war games
with no goal in mind
or the degradation of
violence tearing at the threads
of our society.

Today, I want to tell you again
I love you and will for a lifetime to come.
