I NOTICE WHAT I HEAR TODAY

This lesson is like the previous one. It is about being aware of what
really attracts me the most. Am I listening for miracles, peace, and love,
or am I listening for stories, turmoil, and fear? I can make a choice to
listen either to my Spirit or to my ego. At every moment today, I am aware
of which one I am listening to and I refuse to listen to ego. Today, I
notice what I hear.


ASSIGNMENT FOR DAY 2
Be aware of what you are listening to and whether you enjoy listening to
your Spirit or your ego.

Remember to keep your word today.

I AM JUST THE MESSENGER

One morning, during my meditation, my mother (who has been one of my guides
since her death several years before) appeared with another woman who was
wearing a turban. I asked who her friend was. She replied, "This is Mrs.
Bandar. She’s the mother of your good friend, John Bandar." (He and I had
been friends for nearly four years. John had come to America from Iran and
is a reputable civil engineer in town.) I asked my mother what I could do
for them. She replied that Mrs. Bandar would like me to give a message to
her son. Knowing John as I did, I was not sure that this was a very good
idea. But my mother strongly pointed out that I am just a messenger and
should not make judgments. I agreed to give him the message. She told me to
tell him that he should make a positive decision that day regarding a
situation that he had been procrastinating about for the last two years.
The decision had to be made that day. She emphasized that this message had
to be given to John before noon.

After my meditation, I called John at his office. His secretary informed me
that he was on the phone and had two other calls holding, so I left my name
and number. Knowing how busy he usually was, I thought that it might be a
day or two before he returned my call. Moments later, the phone rang—to my
surprise, it was John. He explained that, for some unknown reason, the
phone lines in his office had gone dead and had disconnected his other
calls just seconds before he received my message. With an uneasy feeling, I
relayed everything to him that my mother had told me. Laughing, he promised
to enroll at the gym and work out with me. I told him that was not it . . .
. He was quiet for about two minutes and asked me exactly what my mom had
said. I explained it again, recalling her words to the best of my ability.
His voice changed. He said, "Do you swear on your son’s life that she said
that?"

"Yes," I replied. He thanked me and hung up.

That evening, he called me at home and after some small talk, explained to
me that for the past two years he had been given the opportunity to become
a U.S. citizen; his mother's message had come on the last day of his
eligibility. This surprised me—I thought he already was a citizen, since he
had been here for so many years.

When I have the opportunity to pass on a message, my ego goes crazy and
gives me many reasons why I should not. Whenever I get my ego out of the
way and relay the message, however, I am always so very thankful for the
results.

A MESSAGE FROM "OUR FRIEND"

In 1993, I began to receive a lot of messages from my guides for other
people. I did not understand most of them, but acted as the messenger and
passed them along anyway.

As I was meditating one morning, one of my guides, Moses, informed me that
I was supposed to give a message to Tom. I asked him who Tom was. He
reminded me that Tom was a gentleman I had met at the gym last week. I was
a little uncomfortable giving him a message, since I did not know him very
well. However, Moses assured me that it was going to be okay. Reluctantly,
I asked him what the message was. He told me to inform Tom that what he had
been waiting the last eight months for would happen that afternoon, and
that he should not take any additional steps in regards to it. I agreed to
pass it on, but reminded Moses that if Tom was not there, or if it was
going to be effortful, I would decline.

A short time after my meditation, I went to the gym. I was pleased—but a
little uneasy—to find Tom there. After some small talk, I told him that I
had a message for him. He was surprised and asked me, "From whom?"

I replied, "From Moses."

He laughed and sarcastically asked, "You know Moses?" I explained to him
that I meditate every morning and that Moses is one of my guides. He asked
me what the "good ol’ Moses" had to say. I repeated what Moses had told me.
His face changed drastically: he lost his color—and, for a moment, I
thought he was going to faint. He asked me to repeat the message again, so
I did—exactly as it had been given to me. Then he asked, "Did he say
anything else?" I said that he hadn’t, shook his hand, and walked away. He
picked up his towel and walked behind me . . . . He said that he did not
feel like working out anymore, and left.

I saw him again about five days later. He ran up to me and gave me a warm,
loving hug. He explained that he had followed the advice of Moses and
everything had turned out perfectly. He thanked me and asked if I had any
new messages for him. I replied, "No."

Over the next three years, I would see Tom once or twice a week, and just
about every time, with a great smile, he would ask me if there had been any
news from our friend. To this day, I do not know what the message meant to
Tom, but I am glad that I was able to be of service to him.
