This yahoo group is for families of children with unilateral hearing loss and the professionals who serve those families (adults with unilateral hearing loss are welcome too!). These families have specific questions and challenges that are not always shared by families of children with bilateral hearing loss. Children with unilateral hearing loss are at risk for future academic struggle, and parents need to be informed of what to watch for and what to ask for. Recommendations for amplification and/or intervention vary for children with unilateral hearing loss, often causing confusion and uncertainty. This group provides an opportunity for real-time parent to parent support and information sharing.
