RE: [HOHAudiologists] Inexpensive FM/ALD unit for CI and hearing aid

If money is an issue use a loop/t-coil combo.

Sennheiser with loop might be a good option.

Or William Sound FM System, again with loop.  Transmitter can be directly plugged into TV audio out.  Pocket talker is another option although he would have to be hardwired (not wireless) to the TV.

If you want to be super cheap you could just start with a loop directly in the audio out of the TV.

Good luck!

Subject: [HOHAudiologists] Inexpensive FM/ALD unit for CI and hearing aid

Hi all!

My name is Greta Stamper and I am a 4th year Au.D. student from the
University of Iowa. I have a moderate to severe bilateral hearing loss
and have enjoyed being part of this group for several years. I am
looking forward to the AAA discussion group again this year! It is
always nice to see everyone each year and also see our attendance
numbers grow.
I had a question that I thought some of you out there may be able to
help me with. I have a patient who wears a Nucleus Freedom SP on one
ear and a hearing aid on the other. He is looking for an FM/ALD for
watching the television that works with both his CI and HA. Cost is
definitely a factor and he is not able to afford anything that is too
expensive. We have identified several systems that we think will work
for him, but I thought I would post this and see if any of you have any
ideas and/or experience with any particular device. Any thoughts would
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Greta

Another very inexpensive solution is an extension speaker (amplified with a volume control) connected to the TV then wired under the baseboard and placed on...
