In addition to Peter’s suggestion, there are ways to do
listening checks. I agree that objective analysis is good, but you can
also glean a lot from subjective listening.
As a former teacher, I’m not going to give you the
answers, but rather provide some questions that may lead you to your own
solutions:
1)How do you couple your hearing aids to your ears? Is there
any way to couple the patient’s hearing aids to you the same way?
2)If your loss is too severe for #1, are there any technologies
that you can use to route the acoustic output of the patient’s hearing
aid to your hearing aids. (Hint: you may need to visit radio Shack and build
part of this)
3)Some Real Ear Systems allow you to monitor the probe mic.
Is there a way to couple that output to your hearing aids?
I’m sure the rest of the group will have some other suggestions.
Good luck and don’t be afraid to use some solder and electrical
tape ;-)

hmmm...the old fashioned way. the old analyzer where you
insert into a coupler, close the lid, and get a printout. works on any model.

Thanks for the info! I use the Phonak HandyMic...it comes with an audio cable that can fit into sound systems. I dont have the boom mic accessory though...But...
I have the HandyMic as well... unfortunately a boom mic or any external microphone cannot be added to the HandyMic ... but you could patch it into another FM...
