Re: [HOHAudiologists] Informal poll to see how many of you have CIs
Hi everyone,
I have AU SNHL in severe range, which was post-lingual. I am glad that the prospect of cochlear implantation is there, should I need to go this route. Luckily, my hearing has not changed in the past. I continue to wear mini BTE's which are fabulous. I typically fool people with my loss because I am a terrific lip reader and function way better than my normal hearing husband and friends, in noise. Without my aids is a whole different story :)

Hi Tina--Thanks for sharing, and that's a good idea about finding out how many of us have CIs. Though I wear binaural hearing aids right now, it will be great to have a resource as my hearing loss progresses and I may consider CIs. I have a genetic hearing loss and several of my family members are getting close to considering it, so I may have lots of questions as this is an area in which I am not an expert by any means.

Hi all,
Just curious, how many of you have cochlear implants?
I have Advanced Bionics devices and got my first in August 2000 and went bilateral in December 2005. I am a late-deafened adult who actually went into audiology FIRST and then lost my hearing due to AIED.
I currently work as an Education Specialist for Advanced Bionics and prior to that, I was an educational audiologist.
