Hi Folks,
As some of you know, I work at a humanitarian aid clinic on the
Dominican Republic/Haiti border. I will be returning there in March
and I am short by 10 hearing aids. We have 34 children/young adults
at the school for the deaf and a multitude of hearing impaired adults
in the community. This is my seventh year servicing this region and
the difference that we have made in the lives of the people is
incredible. I collect donations throughout the year (money, gift
cards to Walmart, Target, clothing, medicine, hearing aids, etc).
The monetary donations are used to obtain hearing aids and earmolds
(usually from Starkey's So the World May Hear Project and from
Westone Labs as they only charge a nominal fee and some of the items
they donate). Because Hurricane Noel wiped out most of the villge in
October 2007 I used the extra money to assist with food, water and
basic humanitarian aid supplies. If any of you have any analog BTE
hearing aids left over or any digital BTE's that you are not using,
these would be put to great use. And if any of you ever wish to
accompany me on a trip, that would be awesome. You can email me
directly, fax, etc.
Hugs to all,
