This support group was founded in 1979 by Rocky Stone, who would not let his hearing loss keep him from fully participating in life. We can help ourselves to keep in touch with the people and the events that are important to us, and by meeting together we get more ideas and techniques for handling the challenges that hearing loss poses. One of 250 chapters of Hearing Loss Association of America, the Salt Lake City HLA tries to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.


Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month (except December) from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert G. Sanderson Community Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing located at 5709 South 1500 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Meetings are accessible to people with hearing loss through an FM assistive listening device and through CART (real-time captioning). There is no membership required to attend HLA meetings. All people are welcome, and we encourage family members to join their loved ones with hearing loss at these meetings - there is a lot to learn.
