This Hawaii UC Group is geared toward Unassisted Childbirth, or UC, however those who join also have an understanding of the many choices women have when it comes to their pregnancy and childbirth options. You may birth unassisted but also have shadow care by an OB or MW, or you may just do your own prenatals. Whatever your choice we accept them.
This group is here to provide you with the information you need to help you in your quest for information about UC births. You will find personal childbirth experiences, as well as others who have had unassisted home births, and more. An unassisted birth is any birth that takes place without the assistance (or even supervision!) of a medical professional, like a doctor, nurse, or midwife. An Unassisted Childbirth (UC) can be planned or unplanned.
In an unassisted childbirth no one acts as a midwife. Instead, the birthing woman herself determines the course of her labor. Partners or friends may participate to varying degrees, but no one instructs the woman as to how to give birth, when to push, what position to be in, etc. Occasionally suggestions may be offered but it is assumed that the woman giving birth is the true expert on her own body.
Unassisted childbirth is empowering for the woman, her partner, and her baby. Women who have given birth with little or no assistance often describe it as the most fulfilling experience of their lives. With no one around to tell them what to do, when to push, or which position to be in, many women find they know how to give birth.
Unassisted childbirth is free!
