 H1N1 Vaccine Update: Available in U.S. Earlier Than Expected; Only One Shot Needed
There's some good news on the H1N1 front: A vaccine may be available in the U.S. in just a few weeks, and you'll only need to take one shot instead of two. Both developments are welcome news in the U.S., where the H1N1 (swine flu) epidemic is heating up once again with the beginning of the school year. Share Your Comments in Support of HPV Vaccine Coverage for U.S. Boys and Young Men
The number of people who are able to receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil may be about to double, but will the number of people who can afford to get it follow suit? An advisory panel to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that the vaccine be cleared for use not only in girls and young women, but in boys and young men as well. However, FDA approval is not the end of the road. Activists need you to take part in hearings next month over whether the federal government should pay for boys and young men to receive this vaccine through government-funded health programs such as Medicaid and Veterans Affairs.
