MIXED-STATUS COUPLES
Oral Sex in a Magnetic Marriage
My husband was diagnosed with HIV more than a year ago; I've remained negative. Ever since his viral load reached undetectable I've wanted to have unprotected sex with him, or at least give him a first-rate blowjob. I know there are risks, but this is something that I really want to do. What do you think?
If My Partner Is Undetectable, Am I at No Risk?
I made a point of telling my partner that I was negative before we had oral and anal sex. Afterwards, he told me he was positive! And he's a doctor! However, he said I'd be fine because he's had an undetectable viral load for two years and can't transmit HIV. Is he right?
My Negative Partner May Leave Me Because of HIV
My HIV-negative boyfriend has decided he just wants to be friends. He is scared of getting HIV from me, in spite of the fact that we always use condoms and my viral load is undetectable. I love him with all my heart and can't bear the thought of not being with him. What should I do?

Magic Told Me We're Close to a Cure
I recently met Magic Johnson, and he told me that we're a lot closer to finding a cure for HIV than many people think. Is he right? What does Magic know that the rest of us don't?
HIV TREATMENT
To Those Who Are Worried About HIV Treatment: Meds Can Be a Breeze!
Before I started taking Sustiva (efavirenz, Stocrin) and Truvada (tenofovir/FTC), I was petrified of starting HIV meds. But after a month on meds, my CD4 count rose from 231 to 510. Aside from some bizarre dreams and a little dizziness at the beginning, I've had no side effects. I'm amazed! I've learned that you don't have to let HIV control your life.
Should Older HIVers Start Treatment Earlier?
I am 70 years old and recently tested positive. Because of my age, should I start medication sooner than is recommended for younger people?
Is It Time to Start Treatment?
I have a CD4 count of 270 and a viral load of 3,500. My doctor says I should wait a little bit longer before starting HIV treatment. Is she right?
I'm Taking Meds Every Other Day -- and It Works!
Ten months ago, I began taking my HIV meds every other day. I know this dosing schedule isn't usually recommended, but I've been doing well: My viral load remains undetectable, my CD4 count is 419 (the highest it's ever been) and I'm feeling better than ever. Why isn't every-other-day dosing of HIV meds more popular?
BODY FAT CHANGES
Lipoatrophy Without HIV Meds
I have severe fat loss in many parts of my body, but I've never been on HIV meds and I'm in overall good health. I understand that cases like mine are pretty rare, but I was wondering whether anyone is doing research on people like me.
Getting My Insurance to Cover Facial Wasting Treatment
How can I get my health insurance plan to cover silicone treatments for facial wasting?
Facial Filler Infection
One of my Bio-Alcamid (a facial filler to treat lipoatrophy) implants is infected. What's the best way to treat the infection? How can I find out whether my other implants are infected?

70 Years Old and Newly Diagnosed
(A recent post from the "Living With HIV" board)
I am a recently diagnosed 70-year-old with four children and four grandchildren. ... I am a chronic worrier and am considering the best way to kill myself because of the embarrassment to me, my family and friends. I feel that, as I am 70 and have had a good life, there is nothing left for me but worry. I also expect that because of my age, the onset of AIDS will be much quicker. I also worry about having operations for other medical problems I might have in the future. I am ... finding it hard to continue. It's worse because I have always looked after myself and am very fit for my age. Can anyone help?

LIVING WITH HIV
55 Years Old With Advanced HIV and Kaposi's Sarcoma
A 55-year-old member of my family has a CD4 count of 80 and has been diagnosed with Kaposi's sarcoma. He has begun taking HIV medications and antibiotics, and plans to take chemotherapy as well. Will he get better?
CHILDREN HIV
What Can I Do About the Lack of Research on HIV in Kids?
I have a 3-year-old son with HIV, and I'm dismayed that so little research has been done on HIV treatment for children. How can I help scientists find more treatment options for HIV-positive kids?
STRANGE BUT TRUE
Is HIV Risk Afoot?
As I was walking through the mall, I stepped in a small pool of fresh blood. If the blood was HIV positive and I tracked it into my home, would my family be at risk for HIV? What if someone walked barefoot near my bloody shoes, stood in the shower, dropped the soap on the shower floor and then used the soap?
