This is a group that hopefully will help parents with children with all types on Hyperinsulinism. As a parent, it is very daunting to find out your child is one of many and counting. There needs to be more information for New patients, Doctor's, Caregivers, Nurses and the general public that comes into contact with Children who have any type of HI. I hope that this site will help in anyway possible for parents of children with HI. Please remember every child is different. HI occurs in 1 in 50 thousand live births and HI/HA occurs in 1 in 1.5 million live births. Currently we have a member that has a son with GK/HI, he became the 3rd person in the world that has been documented with GK/HI.

NOTE: I have noticed that on other groups (not this group) that non-medical personnel are giving out medical advised, if you are not a Doctor or Licensed Nurse please do not give out medical advise. We can share our own personal experience with this condition and how we deal with them and that is the extent of it. To all Parents when in doubt ask your Doctor, they are more knowledgeable sometimes about your child then any of us are. This is for the safety of all our children. Please remember that not all Doctor's have come across this disease and when in doubt, always ask questions, whether it be here on the board or with your Physician and if need be get a second opinion, this is your child's life we are dealing with.
