At the 2003 HDSA National Convention in Houston, members of the National Youth Alliance voted on setting aside a portion of the donations collected at the Silent Auction each year to establish this scholarship. The intent of the scholarship is to help current NYA members, living with Huntington’s Disease, attend a National Convention whom otherwise might not be able to afford it.
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America [HDSA] is pleased to announce that it is now taking applications for the 3rd Annual National Youth Alliance [NYA] Convention Scholarship Fund. This Fund was established for all current members of the NYA.
Application & Time Schedule
Attached is the 2006 NYA Convention Scholarship Application to share with your HD families. This application is also available on-line from the NYA website, http://huntingtondisease.tripod.com/nya/id24.html. It should be printed in "portrait" setting. The scholarship is open to any current or alumni member of the NYA.
The application must be postmarked no later than midnight, Friday, April 28, 2006. Applications are to be mailed to HDSA, Attention Vickie Mullin, at the below address. Emailed applications are acceptable if all necessary signatures and attachments are included. Applicants will be notified by May 9, 2006 if they are being provided a convention scholarship.
Supporting the NYA Convention Scholarship Fund
This Fund is possible because of the support and generosity of families such as yours, in supporting the annual NYA Silent Auction and other activities at the annual HDSA National Convention. The balance in this fund for 2006 is $4,500.00, which will help support approximately 4 full scholarships.
If you would like to make a contribution to this fund, to help send more NYA members to the 2006 HDSA National Convention in Milwaukee, please send your contribution, made payable to the "NYA Convention Scholarship Fund", to:
