Having problems with message search?
The below message was posted on the HDSA National Youth Alliance Yahoo message board by the NYA Chapter/Executive Committee's President. The NYA organization has held two other NYA Advocacy Day's to create awareness this year and, as you'll read, their 3rd is planned for May 1st. If you have a member of the NYA in your Chapter or Support Group, please share this message with them as not all of the NYA members currently belong to the Yahoo group.
If you have any young adults [9-25] who have not yet joined the HDSA National Youth Alliance, we hope you'll encourage them to do so! The HDSA NYA membership application can be filled out on-line here: http://www.hdsa.org/nya/apply.html. The HDSA NYA webpages will soon have their own "on-line" chat forum. But in the meantime, if any of your young adults who belong to the NYA don't know about their Yahoo group, they can join that by going here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/HDSAyouth/. They will be asked why they are joining and will need pre-approval. This is to keep anyone not living with HD and others out of this group who don't belong there. Their request to join will be approved by myself or Sue Leck.

May 1, 2009 3rd NYA Advocacy Day

Dear Fellow NYA Members,
Do you want to do some advocating for Huntington’s disease, HDSA and for the NYA? Well here is your chance…
May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month. That’s right, so try to keep that in mind in all of your activities over the next month and try to find ways to bring awareness to this disease.
We are having our 3rd NYA Advocacy Day on May 1, 2009.
What we are asking fellow NYA members to do on Advocacy Day, is to do just that, advocate for Huntington’s disease. We are all planning on wearing a combination of our HD or NYA tee shirts, wearing our “Cure HD” buttons and we will sport (carry) our HDSA convention bags. Our goal is to go into our own communities; whether it is work or school or somewhere else, and raise awareness for Huntington’s disease, by talking to random people or people who don’t know what HD is, about the disease. Then at the end of the day we all will get on-line and talk to each other about how many people we were able to teach about this illness.
If each of us could just talk to five people, think of all the possibilities we could help create for this disease.
We hope that you will accept our challenge; and look forward to reading everyone’s reports. And like always please feel free to contact me with any questions. Hope to see you at convention!
