I'm sharing the HDAC request with everyone with their permission!
========================================================
There are so many thoughts and emotions associated with deciding whether or not to test for HD and in dealing with the results if you do. The publishers of the HD Lighthouse and HDAC, Steve Ireland and Marsha Miller, will be setting up a special section for personal stories on genetic testing for Huntington's Disease on HDAC.
This is an invitation for you to submit your own personal story on genetic testing to share with others from around the globe. HDAC would be very happy to receive articles from everyone! In addition to the personal articles about testing positive, negative, or in an intermediate range, they would like to have articles from people who have made the decision not to test at this point in their lives and are comfortable with that decision
By sharing your experience, HDAC hopes that other readers can feel more confident that there is no right and right decision about testing, only a personal decision that is right for them, and that their feelings -- whatever they are -- are shared by others. HDAC's separate portal page for the Testing stories will also have a link to the protocols for predictive testing, information on how to interpret the test results, what to do about insurance before testing.
If you would like to contribute a story/article on your experience with deciding to have genetic testing or having gone through genetic testing, please email it to Marsha Miller. Let her know how you want it to be signed. ie. Jane Doe or Jane D. or Jane. If you want to sign your own name, you can also send a picture if you'd like one used with your article. Marsha will let you know when your article goes up on HDAC.
