Subject: Huntington's Disease Advocacy Center [HDAC] New Resource "What's New in The News"
Interested in a monthly bulletin that will give you information on the latest in HD research? Then read on ;-)
The editors of the Huntington's Disease Lighthouse [HDL] have been very busy writing editorials on recent publications of studies done on Huntington's Disease. Before publishing an editorial on any specific study the HDL, typically, will not only contact the author but often check with other HD researchers to make sure their interpretation on a study is accurate and factual. If a recently published study doesn't have enough support behind it, either through previous research/studies, the HDL editors will most likely wait until more substantial information is available before publishing an editorial. Without a doubt, their editorals have become a very respectable & reliable place for anyone looking for the latest information on Huntington's Disease!
The only problem in the past, for most of us, was remembering to check the HDL periodically for updates!
Thanks to Steve Ireland who is with the HDSA Texas Chapter and both the HDAC/HDL the HDAC is now publishing a monthly update called "What's New in the News". These update include subject title, brief information on the subject, the date it was published and then a link to the full article either on HDL, HDAC, HDDW or other reliable sources.Thank you Steve Ireland and all the editors and staff of the HDL and HDAC for providing this valuable resource to HD families!
HDAC will make this"What's New in the News" a monthly update available through this link http://www.hdac.org/caregiving/genBulletin.php to share with all chapters or HD organizations looking for a way to keep their families or colleagues up to date on current HD research or related news. Steve has included a "sample" of his Texas Huntington's Disease eBulletin here http://www.hdac.org/caregiving/eBulletinExample.html Steve writes that anyone is free to use these resources, however you think it is most effective, and only asks that you include a line in your mailings that indicates that the news list was generated by www.hdac.org.
Steve also asks that you email him with any comments or suggestions or you may, stevei@... about the "What's New in the News" HDAC resource. My only suggestion is that I would like to see HDAC provide a separate column [outside the Caregiver's column] on HDAC called "What's New in the News" where not only current updates are posted [and can be printed] but that also include a link to past issues of "What's New in the News". That way we all wouldn't have to create our own eBulletin but can just share HDAC's current monthly update ;-)
