The April 21, 2006 Criminal Justice Forum interview with Karen Karle, USF HD
CoE Social Worker and Jean Miller, USF HD CoE Patient Outreach can now be
heard on the CJF's website:
http://criminaljusticeforum.com/images/stories/media/cjf203.mp3
It's an hour long interview, with two small breaks so hopefully you'll have
the time to hear it all!
The show actually turned out to be more of an educational/awareness one on
Huntington's Disease then addressing the criminal justice issues HD families
can face although it does touch on this. However, as a result of the
interview and an upcoming HD Birthday Bash celebration in Tarpon Springs May
17th, we now have the support of not only the shows host, Frank Kopczynski,
in supporting the education of NAMI and Florida's law & legal professionals
on HD, but two lawyers who are both ex-public defenders! One of them will
be attending the HDSA National Convention in Milwaukee to learn more about
HD to help us in this project. In addition Marci McCall, with the USF HD
CoE in Tampa, has been invited to do an outreach training with the Hillsboro
Sheriff's office educating first responders about Huntington's Disease in
the next few weeks.
The CJF host, is donating 250 copies of a CD with this interview to the HDSA
USF HD Center of Excellence that he will bring to the May 17th HD Bash in
Tarpon Springs. He will also be a guest speaker at this event.
So far, the feedback has been good so we hope you'll find it informative!
Wish us luck in our education and advocacy of Florida's law enforcement and
judicial systems!
Jean
