Before The First Teardrop Falls
Grief is a hardship
we all must walk through
at some time or
another one day.
Where sadness & sorrow
wakes us up like cold water
and stiffles our words
when we pray.
Where all of the activities
and movements of life
that once brought meaning
& joy to our hours,
Somehow fall flat
on the floor of our pain
and no longer feel like their ours.
But these are the times
when faith in God will carry us
though we do not
feel strong anymore.
For the One who is powerful
will sustain His children
when they feel powerless
to open a door.
It's seasons of grief
...that somehow seem unending
when Jesus sows the seeds
of pure hope.
And they are watered by the tears
that flow like a faucet
on days when we struggle to cope.
It's the time of desperation,
when we're numb from the pain
that teach us faith in God
isn't based on our feelings.
For God is unwavering
...unchanging...and solid
when all of our senses are reeling.
Though grief is a knock
at the door of our hearts
that we'd rather not answer at all.
Jesus stands ready to help us,
before we even ask
and He's there before
the first teardrop falls.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. He
telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is
infinite.
( PSALM 147:3-5 )
