Re: Kleenex, (Napkins), and Washers/Stinky Clothing   Message List

1) I've found that sometimes I can get kleenex that isn't contaminated. It
depends where it was stored. Purchasing from drugstore.com seems more successful
than the local Duane Reader or Walgreens. Sometimes they're okay and sometimes
they're not. If only mildly stinky, taking off the plastic wrapping and leaving
them for a few weeks in the bathroom tends to dissipate the smell.

2) Napkins are the same--some batches fine, others stink of perfume.

It's disgusting I agree and never used to be THIS bad.

3) Washers--stinky clothing. I am not sure I've achieved success, because I
haven't tried the washer yet, but I just got an Avanti washer from a woman who
really did use only Seventh Generation (she showed it to me). The washer was for
her son who seems developmentally delayed so maybe that made her more conscious.
I had my boyfriend pick it up and it's at his place--I'm going to give him some
of my Biokleen detergent and see how his clothes do first, before I try mine,
since my Eco-Egg works well for all small items I have, just not for blankets,
big towels or rugs or my fake shearling jackets and coats.

4) My favorite pair of lounge/sleep yoga pants, by Splendid, that are totally
neutral for me as a material---are falling apart, stretched out, etc. These are
expensive but I finally ordered another pair online. It came completely
contaminated with disgusting air freshener or scent of some kind. Unbelievable.
I was afraid to wash it in the Eco Egg and contaminate the washer, so we washed
it downstairs THREE times, with soap, and vinegar etc. Then of course it came up
smelling like everybody's Downy residue or whatever (even if I go downstairs and
pass thru the laundry room I come up smelling like bounce and Downy). I then
washed it literally about eight to ten more times. It is finally starting to
smell normal.
