I work in a shop that has a garment printer and heat press. The inks are
supposed to be water based and therefore "no toxic fumes." However, I got very
sick today and had to leave because of fumes! What happens is a design is
printed onto a T-shirt and then heat pressed to seal it. If the ink is truly
nontoxic (which I don't necessarily believe anyway), what accounts for my
illness? Does it have to do with the ink heating up? Or the T-shirt? Maybe
something the T-shirt is treated with being heated up and making me sick?
I was just about to give my boss a letter about perfume in the office, now this
issue is just as bad and I have to revise my letter. And I don't want to hear
the nontoxic ink excuse because it clearly makes me ill regardless. I feel like
I'll need to justify my reasons for getting sick.
This is awful, and I can't find another job. :(
Thanks, everyone.
