Re: Low-chemical hobbies   Message List

Hi all,

I know a lot of you are housebound as I am. Lately I've been getting into new
hobbies to make isolated life more interesting. Articles about each have been
added to the bubblegirl.net website. If you got to the MCS section, you'll see
the list of new hobbies on the left column. There's craft and musical
instruments that you can enjoy with low chemical use. Of course, your allergies
will differ from mine and may need to be cared for differently, but this might
help you find something you are able to enjoy and thrive on.

My favourite is Punch Needle embroidery. It's 3D embroidery with an easy needle.
Take a look and I'm sure you'll be inspired.

The hobbies I have picked have parts that are fully-washable and don't require
chemicals to begin with. If you want to share your creations, there's a new area
at PlanetThrive.com where you can. Hope-Full Hobbyists is made especially for
people like us.

Take care,

S.

Subject: [GreenCanary] Ready to Make A Difference - Can You Help Me???

I am so glad I finally found a group dedicated to something I believe
in and is very dear to my heart. I have chemical sensitivities and NO
ONE BELIEVES ME! It is the most sickening and painful thing, and I am
sure many of you are well aware of this feeling. YES - these feelings
are real, and the title of this board clarifies our position so well -
we are little canaries in an ever-more toxic world. I often ask
myself (and the greater powers above) why I am so sensitive - why am I
so different. Perhaps it is to make a difference in the world by
being that canary - by sensing what is there even when others cannot.

I am trying to change our little piece of the world through the
education and promotion of sustainable products and services, all
while trying to make changes in industry through "voting with our
dollar" and changing legislation (by educating PEOPLE).

I need your help - I need to get more people involved to educate and
promote until we have a critical mass to make a difference. This will
take some time, but with everyone's help, it can happen in our lifetimes!

Please send me your ideas, comments, suggestions, and interests. I
would be most honored to be a part of this group and a part of making
our lives less toxic and more livable.

Hi Sara, If you find a brand that is not varnished, there wouldn't be sludge. I use QA thread which is sludge-free. Their cottons look beautiful in embroidery....
