My name is Karen, and I'm new to the group and the diet. It's been
almost two weeks, but I was pretty bad over the past weekend. My
roommate and I are both on the diet, so that helps a lot. I guess I
just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 27 and live in Brooklyn. I'd
eventually like to lose 60 lbs. That's the first time I've actually
seen that number written down (I still haven't said it aloud) and it
seems overwhelming. I've always been overweight, and I'd like to
know what it feels like to not be. Also, my 10 year high school
reunion is coming up, and there's no way I can go the way I'm
feeling right now. I think if lose some weight, my confidence and
self esteem will go up and I'll actually look forward to it. About
the diet thus far: The food is actually really good. I knew I needed
to eat more vegetables, and this certainly covers that. I have a
terrible sweet tooth, and my favorite thing is the chocolate chip
cookies at the restaurant in my office building, so I have a hard
time talking myself out of getting one. Like I said, I'm doing this
with my roommate and our first grovery bill was really expensive. I
imagine it goes down after you get some of the staples, but this
stuff isn't cheap. It also seems like all we do is prepare meals.
None of it is too complex, but it just seems endless. Other than
that, it seems like it will be fairly easy to follow. This has
gotten longer than I intended it to be, so I'll guess I'll wrap it
up. Anyway, that's me, and I look forward to working with this group
toward our goals.
