open "seminar" to answer general questions about training, nutrition,

Counteracting supplements and habits:

I know some people see negative responses to their bad habits in
their appearance, while they think that others are "gifted" or "have
good genetics."  Even though some of these people will not see
negative side affects in their appearance, they will over time see
negative affects on their body internally.  Many athletes and retired
athletes are seeing kidney and liver problems from combining excess
alcohol consumption and with their supplementation.  With
bodybuilders, this stems from testosterone products and alcohol,
while other athletes combine products like Creatine with alcohol.  I
have many people and heard government reports that point the finger
at the supplements, when the real problem is the alcohol.

I have seen a trend of people who stop working out because they
are "stressed", "busy", etc.  I know this is an easy excuse that I
have never personally taken advantage of in my life and don't
recommend it to anyone else!  It is times like this that people need
fitness in their life to reduce stress, increase heart health and a
healthy way of relieving stress through weight training!



I hope the trend heads in the other direction, but people are losing
results they have worked really hard for because they
are "stressed."  And after taking 2 steps forward it does not make

Questioning whether someone is "cheating":



I have had people question people that I work with on a weekly
basis.  Some question if people putting size on are using steroids,
while others question if some who lose weight are anorexic or
bulimic.



Many people respond to exercise and fitness in different ways.  I
have people who follow their program 100% and see 100% of the results
they expect, while others follow their program (knowingly) 60% and
say they are following 100% and see results as if they are following
60%.  If someone is not following their program at 100% and it makes
them feel better to question someone else's results, they should keep
it to themselves.  If someone is doing extra-curricular things to
help speed up their results, then it will be extremely apparent.  In
the case that someone is passing up a piece of cake, an extra cookie
or (to gain weight) eating the extra lean calories needed to put size
on, they will see the rapid results!

Laziness:



Or abuse, or ……  Well, you decide.  I had a large lady knock on the
door of my house on the night of February 6, 2007 asking me if I
would like her to shovel my drive (for a price), since she was doing
my neighbors drive.  I told her that I would get it, but thanks for
the offer.  My curiosity was aroused because of the shape the lady
looked to be in and the length of the driveway would make for a good
workout.   Later, just to see how thorough of a job she did I looked
out the window to see she was taking a smoke break and there were two
little shovels scooping down the driveway.  I would assume one was
about 6 years old and the other 9 years old.  I was shocked to say
the least!  I was left speechless and told my neighbor about the
ordeal, which she decided she was not going to use the service, but
all-in-all, I guess it is just a story I wanted to share.

Over the past 2 months, I have heard the response of "I want to get
started, but I will wait until after the 1st of the year."  Ummm…..
How confusing is that to me?  Well, what I hear is, "let me eat to
gain another 5-20 pounds over the next couple months and then I might
be motivated to get started."

Well, the first of the year is here!  As usual, we will probably see
about 10% of those people return, while the other 90% use the same
excuse through 2007.  I hope that I am proven wrong!  If you think in
the means of years, most people begin using this excuse around the
age of 24-26 and continue to use it until they find themselves in
their late 30's!  By this time, the destruction of metabolism,
stretching of skin, pounding of the heart, have all created problems
that can be lessened, but never reversed.

It is never too late to get started, but why not today?
