This group is designed to be a journal club/news group for presentation of primary literature regarding autoimmune mediated disease of the GI tract.

This includes Coeliac Disease, Crohn's Disease, etc. This group is designed for professionals and interested parties who are willing to invest time in reading scientific and clinical papers regarding coeliac disease and associated autoimmune diseases. The scientific range is full from the methodologies of purifying gliadin, tranglutaminases, to the genetics and familial studies of CD.
Background information on the evolution of HLA is available in the Molecular Anthropology group but may also be discussed here.
Evolution of dietary allergens capable of triggering coeliac disease are also on topic and the function, structure and evolution of these proteins is considered a welcome topic of discussion. Archaeological evidence in support of the evolution may also be presented
