Freeda,
My mom's repeat test came back worse. Here blast %age
is up to 26%. Her doctor has classified it as blast
stage. I thought blast stage was more than 30% blast
cells. But it seems WHO has a diff classification.
Here's what the doctor has proposed. (1) Increase
Gleevec dose from 300 to 600mg. (2) BMA in 2 weeks (3)
low cytometry for acute leukemia panel.
Her blast cells were checked in october 2005 and then
in feb 2006. The %age went up from 8 to 26%. So yes,
it was a dramatic increase. She was put on 400mg when
she started Gleevec initially. But her TLC would drop
so low that her therapy had to be stopped every 4
weeks for 2 weeks. So the docs put her on 300mg. Just
hoping her BMA results are not too bad.
Thanks & regards
Madhulika
